Innovative Regions for a Just Transition (IKI JET)
The programme supports and accelerates just energy transitions (JET) away from coal to renewable energy and other sustainable economic activities with a focus on the regional level in the Global South.
Greener Reefers
The project aims to demonstrate that environmentally and climate-friendly reefers can be operated, serviced and repaired safely and efficiently in the ports and country. The project will train reefer technicians to reduce leakage rates and ensure optimized energy efficiency and will pilot climate friendly and energy efficient reefer containers. It will provide essential information and strategies to reduce GHG emissions and make the reefer sector environmentally and climate friendly.
Global Climate Partnership Fund
To limit global heating and therefore the impacts of climate change, investment is required in energy efficiency, renewables and measures that mitigate the emission of greenhouse gases. The Fund offers this kind of financing to developing and emerging countries. Funding is provided either as a direct investment in specific projects or made available to local financial institutions. These institutions then disburse the funds in the form of loans to small and medium-sized businesses or private households.
Enabling Long Term Decarbonisation Pathways through Power-to-X (PtX Pathways)
The PtX Pathways project supports the development of sustainable hydrogen/PtX markets as building block for the energy transition in Morocco, South Africa and Argentina.
Scale up Climate Finance Through the Financial Sector (30 by 30 Zero)
The implementation of NDCs in emerging markets requires vast funding amounts, for which the financial sector plays a critical role. However, numerous aspects, such as limited under-standing of climate financing opportunities and a lack of consistent policies, have so far prevented sufficient mobilisation of funds. To increase climate lending, the project supports the creation of domestic markets for climate financing in the partner countries.
Assessment and Communication of Climate Impacts of Food
The project aims to enable actors (end consumers, trade, out-of-home catering) to obtain information on complex environmental and sustainability aspects when buying or offering food and meals and to make their consumption or purchasing decisions on this basis.
Green Economy Transformation and Decarbonization Pathways in the Context of Economic Recovery (GET)
The aim is to strengthen the momentum for decarbonisation through inclusive green economy solutions in partner countries, especially in the context of economic recovery. This is done by strengthening global partnership actors and alliances that promote the transformation to an inclusive green economy through in-country activities and global learning.
NDBs Urban Climate Action (NUCA)
The project will contribute to the development and implementation of low-carbon and climate-resilient infrastructure in emerging and developing economies, leading to a significant reduction in GHG emissions and to an increase in resilience to climate-related physical risks in cities
Strengthening Climate Change Adaptation in Cities (CitiesAdapt)
The project enables strong mechanisms of peer-to-peer learning and scaling-up between the project´s partner cities, mentor, and transfer cities as well as national ministries relevant for climate change adaptation and urban development.
Living Lakes
The goal of the programme is the protection and restoration of lakes & wetlands, related landscapes and their biodiversity in the 10 countries involved and beyond.
Climate Resilience for Critical Sites for Migratory Birds and People along the East Atlantic Flyway
The project aims to identify climate change driven threats affecting the East Atlantic Flyway and is designed to bring about systematic change – through knowledge acquisition and dissemination, policy work, capacity building, and engagement with local stakeholders, to achieve behavioural change.
Integrated regional action for Biodiversity (INTERACT - BIO)
The partner countries have signed the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and NBSAP have already been drawn up. INTERACT-Bio supports them in establishing the management of biodiversity and ecosystems as a cross-sectional task and as the joint responsibility of national, regional and local authorities.
Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN II)
The financing of biodiversity conservation is a key issue in the implementation of the CBD. The BIOFIN initiative, active in 37 countries, is a global partnership that supports its partner countries by addressing these knowledge gaps.
Aligning Financial Flows with the Paris Agreement in Africa
The project aims to formulate evidence-based options for aligning financial flows (FF) with the Paris Agreement (PA) in a way that supports the presentation of ambitious climate actions in future NDCs of African countries.
