Cooling Program for Southern Africa (CooPSA)
The aim is to prepare a climate change mitigation program to introduce energy efficient and F-gas free ACs in the SADC region. The Cooling Program promotes the achievement of the targets of the Paris Agreement and the Montreal Protocol (Kigali Amendment).
Growing Greener
The project will promote community-led, market-oriented agro-pastoral land-use systems that prevent landscape degradation while fostering sustainable rural development. This will increase the resilience of open land systems and associated rural livelihoods to desertification and climate change whilst promoting biodiversity. Primary beneficiaries are smallholder agro-pastoralists often with weak access to markets.
Clean Captive Installations
To demonstrate the financial viability of captive renewable energy on commercial sites, raise awareness among industrial players and prepare the ground for technology and business model leapfrogging in countries of the global south.
Energy Transition Materials
The project aims to ensure that in the SADC region the extraction and processing of minerals needed for the energy transition is carried out using low-carbon, environmentally friendly and socially acceptable methods. The project strengthens the development of regional and national policy frameworks that promote green growth and sustainable development.
