Projects
Bilateral Projects
Bilateral projects under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) in South Africa are designed to support the country’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. These partnerships focus on strengthening climate policy, promoting renewable energy, enhancing biodiversity, and supporting just transition initiatives. Developed in close collaboration with South African government partners, the projects align with national priorities and aim to foster sustainable development through targeted technical and financial support.
Regional Projects
Regional projects under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) address shared climate and biodiversity challenges across multiple countries within a specific region. These projects strengthen regional cooperation, harmonize policy approaches, and facilitate the exchange of best practices among governments, civil society, and the private sector. By tackling transboundary issues such as ecosystem management, climate adaptation, and sustainable energy, regional IKI initiatives support integrated solutions that align with both regional priorities and global climate and biodiversity goals.
Global Projects
Global projects funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) address cross-border climate and biodiversity challenges by fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange. These initiatives support developing and emerging countries in implementing the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity. By focusing on scalable solutions, innovation, and capacity building, global IKI projects promote climate resilience, low-emission development, and the conservation of natural ecosystems across multiple regions.
IKI Small Grant Projects
The IKI Small Grants programme supports local and community-driven climate and biodiversity action in developing and emerging countries. Targeting civil society organizations, small institutions, and grassroots initiatives, these grants fund innovative, scalable projects that contribute to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. By empowering local actors and fostering inclusive development, IKI Small Grants help bridge the gap between global goals and local impact.
